Waconia Choirs is a group of curriculum and extra-curricular choirs that include Waconia High School's Power Company of Show Choirs, Power Company, The Current, Illuminations, Shockwave and The Pulse. It also includes The Waconia High School Chamber Choir, and the spectacular Show Choir event, Star Power.

Shockwave Show Choir

The Shockwave Show Choir is an auditioned middle school Show Choir open to all 6-8th grade students interested in participating in show choir. Shockwave is designed to be an immersive show choir experience for students interested in singing and performing. Students will have fun learning a show choir set that they will get to perform along with other show choirs from across the Midwest . Students will gain confidence in their singing and grow their stage presence as the season progresses.

Auditions are held October 6, 7 and 13. – Students need to simply sing “My Country Tis of Thee”

We prefer to see a live audition but, If you are unable to sign up for an audition time because of conflicts with other Fall Activities, you can submit a video recording of yourself singing “My Country Tis of Thee and submit the video here or email to Mr. Olson. “Aolson@isd110.org“

Rehearsals are held on Tuesday afternoons from 3:15 -5:00 PM at Waconia Middle School. (October 28 – March 24)

Choreography Camps – 3:15 -6:00 PM – November 4-6 & December 1-2

Cost to Participate $300 total – Cost includes all music, costumes, travel and any performance expenses.

Performances – All performances will include all the Waconia Show Choirs including Power Company and The Current.

January 9 – Premier Night & Silent Auction – Waconia High School.

January 31 – “Bloomington Gold” – Bloomington Kennedy High School

February 14 – Waconia Star Power – WHS (This is the competition that we host)

March 27-28 – Waconia Show Choir Spectacular – Final performance of the year

Director – Izzy LaMarca “ILaMarca@isd110.org“ is the Director of Shockwave. Izzy is a Waconia Power Company Alumni. She received her degree in Music Education from Gustavus College in St. Peter, MN. She also directs The Current at Waconia High school and assists with Power Company. Izzy is thrilled to be able to work with our emerging show choir students.

Choreographer – Alex Schultz, also a Waconia Power Company (and Shockwave) Alumni is currently choreographing show choirs across the Country. He also is the Associate choreographer for both Power Company and The Current at Waconia High School. He is thrilled to be be returning to Shockwave and work with all these excited young performers.
